USAIN BOLT: THE LEGEND

USAIN BOLT, the Jamaican Jewel, created history at the 2012 Olympics in London earning three medal for 100 meter, 200 meter and in the relay. He himself had predicted that he would become legend in the Olympics and he achieved what he wanted, to be the fastest man on the earth.

Earlier he had set yet another world record at the Berlin world championship with 9.58 seconds to cover 100 meters. Bolt's is not a strained, laboured achievement anywhere and we will love the ease with which he ran . The margin of improvement made at Berlin showed the immense potential. Bolt improved the 100 m world record to 9.58 seconds from his own previous record of 9.69 S. The improvement of 0.11 S. is also a sort of record. It is unusual and almost impossible to gain an improvement of 0.11 seconds in 100 meter sprint events. But in 2012 Olympics his record was 9.63 Sec, a setback of 005 Sec. from his own record. But remember he had an injury pestering him. The records of 100 Meter sprint events usually hover around in the border areas. He breaks records easily and every time he breaks a record the spectators would feel that there are still newer records kept up in his sleeve waiting to tumble out. That is why he is a legend
.

Usain Bolt was born on August 21, 1986 in Sherwood Content, a small town in Trelawny, Jamaica. He grew up with his parents, Jennifer and Wellesley Bolt. He has a brother named Sadeeki and a sister, Sherine. His father ran a grocery store. His passion in the early childhood was for football and cricket and he played with his brother in the streets. He said of that period that he had no other thought other than the sports.

In the early days of his school life, he concentrated on cricket. He liked cricket immensely. Even now he is a fan of cricket and follows the matches closely. He said that he loved Chris Gayle and Sachin Tendulkar. In school, while practicing cricket his coach noticed his unusual speed, as he ran on the pitch and the coach advised Bolt to try the track and field segment. Usain also liked running. As such it was not difficult for him to change the track on the advice of his coach who in fact changed the track of his fate.

He started practicing 100 meter sprint. He got an excellent coach, a former Olympian, Pablo Mcneil.
They jelled together comfortably. He also practiced 200 meter and 400 meter tracks. Bolt won his first  medal in 2001,winning the silver medal in the 200 meters in annual high school championship. Thereafter he never looked back.

Generally the track & field athletes worry too much as they have to face various events always. But Bolt is a relaxed person and does not worry on coming events. He faces them rather jovially and finds time for jokes and simple pranks even during serious training. Usain Bolt does not understand why the people around him are so serious. He is least worried about keeping up the expectation he has built up among his fans. He works hard and leaves it there. He said: “I know what I did and I know I have a responsibility (as Olympic champion), but most of the time I don't think about it, I don't really put pressure on myself. I take it one step at a time but I am always ready. About his dancing and unusual pranks in the stadium he said “I won't change that. And I don't see any problem with it, because people enjoy watching me, I'll stay the way I am. That's my personality."

Bolt’s coach always complaints his ‘lack of devotion’ and carelessness. Bolt has a habit of getting unfocused on his  career and preferring to eat fast food, play basketball, and party in Kingston's club scene. He had said that hard work and having fun are the two things that make him successful. Usain Bolt would rather love to play videogames for hours than worry about the next season. His favorite game is ‘Call of duty modern warfare  and he plays it for long time Usain is also not very particular to set records and win fame. This fact is evident in his Tokyo Olympics where in his last leg of 100 meter sprint he was running two hands outstretched in a celebrating mood. A record-conscious sprinter can not even imagine that.
(Usain got a prime ocean-view land worth 7 million Dollars as gift from the land developer Stafford Earl for his performance in the Olympics, 2008.)

Not that Usain Bolt is unrealistic,he is conscious of defeats. He says about defeat: "It is always a possibility, I'm not unbeatable "

By the age of 15 Usain Bolt was 6 feet 5 inches, weighing 85 Kg without an ounce of fat. His long legs, of course, plays a major role in winning him medals.
