Dulquer Salmaan, son of Mammutty was born on 28th July 1986 and his early education was in Cochin up to 1st Standard and then he moved to Chennai where he studied his entire school education which infact made him out of touch with Kerala life. He later went to U S and earned a degree in Business administration. After returning from States he did not immediately jump in to acting career.However living with a celebrated actor like Mammukka, Dulquer was inexorably led to choosing the Film world as his destiny. Also he had genuine interest in the movie making from young age and he had even made a short film with his Dad’s camera while studying in 8th standard. Dulquer’s interest in films was serious and honest and that was why he politely refused a chance in Shyamaprasad’s Film saying that he had to learn more before beginning to act. Later on he did a short course on film making to get at the fundamentals. His first film was ‘Second show’ which though did not run in packed houses for weeks, Dulquer’s role was noted and got good reviews.
As an actor Dulquer Salman made mark in ‘Usthad Hotel’ and his performance in the film is indeed memorable (or he made the film memorable by his acting) and if it is a pointer to the future, he is a great promise to the industry. His restrained acting and subdued expression of emotions were a refreshing experience for the audience.
Dulquer is now moving out of his father's shadow and earning a name for himself. He said he would clear doubts with his father related to films and that he had no illusions about his career. He said he had to work hard before he becomes noted in the field.
Dulquer married Amal Sufia, a Chennai based architect, in December 2011 and they are living in Chennai.
